Blockchain-Based Software Process Improvement (BBSPI): An Approach for SMEs to Perform Process Improvement

Progressively, Software development organizations are investing their resources, time and, money on Process Improvement (SPI) since it is beneficial in the enhancement of product quality, reduction time, and cost software projects. However, existing methodologies approaches time-consuming costly major focus SPI Large Scale Enterprises (LSEs) therefore, we introducing blockchain to overcome its issues such as reliance a central body standardization for certification, knowledge management, high cost, resource management change organizational culture, etc. We have performed an exploratory case study identify different barriers traditional approaches. To identified issues, proposed implemented new approach by performing two studies. The first was second validate our approach. experiments 55 representatives 50 organizations. According results 56.4% population agreed that will decrease, 61.8% decrease 60.3% BBSPI utilization. Moreover, 69.1% with fact make effective 83.3% said organization can mature processes equaliant certification (CMMI, ISO) employing BBSPI. Our affirm reduce resources helps manage used perform SPI. also depict be efficient substitute bodies could help small medium-sized conform common process improvement models spending less money, management.
